The fertile period is from day 10-18 of a regular cycle and it is advisable to keep sexual contact on alternate days during this period for maximum results. If the cycles are irregular use a fertile period calculator available online after keeping a menstrual chart for 3-4 months. Other ways to detect ovulation is by noticing change in the cervical mucus, it becomes thinner during ovulation. A basal body temperature charted before getting up from the bed using a special thermometer called BBT thermometer may be used. The temperature increases by 0.5 to 1 degree after ovulation.
