When Is The Best Time To Take Fertomid During Periods?

Hi Doc Please help. I'm a 28 year old mom to a seven year old baby girl. I've been on both the injection and the pill since the birth of my daughter. I stopped contraception this time last year and have since been trying to concieve with no success. I have my regular period every month without fail. I went to the chemist and was given Fertimod and told to take it the third day of my period. Now i read on the Internet that Fertimod should be taken on the fifth day of the period. Please advise, which one is it? The third or fifth day? What are the chances that Fertimod works and lastly if it does not work this month, how many more months can i take it before it becomes a problem?

I have gone through your Query & I really appreciate your concern about the problem you are facing.

Brief Answer :
You should take your Fertomid tablets 50mg once daily with or without food at the same time each day, for 5 days, starting on the fifth day of the menstrual cycle.

Detailed answer :
As a physician I would like to elaborate to you that it is a drug which induces Ovulation in your cycles. After 5 days of treatment the ovulation will occur around on 14th or 15 day from start of your period.

As you are stating that you have regular cycles so I suggest that you count 14 days from first day of period and have attempts around those 4-5 days when chances ovulation and you getting pregnant are fairly high

Also I would like you to suggest you that if you don't succeed don't loose hope and visit a Gynecologist for thorough checkup and blood workup of both you and your husband to find out what is wrong with you. Also don't take stress, loose hope but be positive and be patient. Best of Luck.
