When Is The Right Time To Get A Pap Smear Test Done ?

so, i m almost 22 and have a boyfriend. i lost my virginity last january. i have never gone to gynecologist and never had a pap test . my mom who used to home school me for about 11-12 years never told me about it and never took me there. i learned a little about it, and then i talked to two of my doctors. they said that i need a pap test next year. then now, my mom knows that i ve had sex and keeps telling me that my doctors are wrong and that i need a pap test now. she also said that if i didn t have a pap test until next year or never had one and if i had a disease, i could die next year. i m confused, so what should i do? i have a doctor appointment on the 27th before i move from washington state to south carolina sometime on the first week of june.

Hi,normally pap test is advised for sexually active females.As you know it is test which help to diagnose the malignancy of the cervix at an early stage even before the actual disease develops.There is no urgency for such test.This is routine test advised by doctor in this age groups.If you are free from symptoms and comfortable with your self there is no emergency for this.So do not worry.One more word of caution please avoid unprotected sex with any body,there are many disease you know you can have because of this.Even you can discuss with your doctor about cervical cancer vaccine available.bye and take care.
