When Should HPT Be Done After Missing Periods?

I have been experiencing a few pregnancy symptoms (sore breast, cramping, nausea, just to name a few) my husband and i hare trying to have a baby we had sex around my ovulation time frame and i my period was supposed to be here on the 18Th i took 2 hpt but have gotten 2 neg. what should i do? am i testing too soon
