When Should Food Be Consumed Before An Upper Gastrointestinal X-ray?

Hi, my 3 week old daughter has an Upper GI in the morning to determine her often spit ups and minimal weight gain. I was told she shouldn t eat for 8 hours prior by the scheduler but my research and her pediatrician said 2-4 hours prior. I feel 8 hours is too long for my baby to not eat. How long should she not eat? I need reassurance
