When Should Hepatitis B Infection Testing Be Done?

Hello doctor. My husband has hepa b, we had unprotected intercourse for the first time since we found he has hep b one year ago. How long shall i wait to take blood test, to find accurate result if im infected or not? Thank you for your kindness. Regards

Hi welcome to health care magic...

I can understand your concern...

You are knowing your husband having hepatitis b, so you should take precaution during sex to avoid infection....

Anyway now after five to six weak take your blood in red vaccute and send to lab for setological testing of hepatitis B antigen detection using ELISA test....

And if you come negative after repeated testing than take hepatitis b vaccine at 0,1 and six month to be protected... (although after vaccination your titre should be checked )

Try to avoid contact with your husband secretion until you are protected by vaccine and avoid sharing of object like toothbrush...

If you come hbsag positive than protocol is different...
