When Should One Drain The Pus Abscess From Cellulitis?

How long should I wait before draining puss abscess from cellulitis? It s been four days now on two different antibiotics. Towards the second day it raised into a blood sac that was drained on the fourth day of antibiotics leaving an opening where I see pus. Their is a hard abscess of under skin about the size of a 50ยข piece. I want to drain it but don t know if it s ready. I have a week more of antibiotics. Any suggestions? Thank you

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

Get pus culture and sensitivity test done, and then start appropriate antibiotics required. Cellulitis is a deeper infection, which requires doctor supervision.

Check your fasting and post-prandial sugars as well and report to a dermatologist nearby you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sandeep Golla
