When Should Shingles Vaccination Be Taken?

Hello. I m 80 years old and never got a shingles vaccine. I developed shingles in the eye at the end of September , luckily without any discoloration, marring or loss of vision. I still have an awful lot of pain in the nerve from my scalp to the tip of my nose and topical lidocaine/prilocaine helps slightly. Is it save to get a vaccine now, even w/existing pain and itching? My not having gotten the vaccine was due to a serious oversight.

Hi,

As you developed the lesion, no need to take the vaccines.

As of now, you can consult a physician and start medication to manage pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
