When Will Side Effects From Taking Citalopram Subside?

Hi there, I was given a prescription for Citalopram 20mg. I took my first one Friday night at 9pm and everything was fine until 9am the next morning when I was hit with diarrhea and horrible neusea and increased heat and sweating. I did go to an emergency doctor who said he could give me nothing for the neusea as there was a slight possibility that I could get convulsions from the interaction of the two drugs and that I will just have to ride it out. It is now Sunday 6:30am and most of the symptoms have subsided but I have had no food and minimal water as this upset my stomach. I seem to be ok drinking water this morning. I still have a horrible headache and was wondering if it is safe to take a Paracetamol Osteo 675mg for the headache? It is the only painkiller I have in the house. Oh FYI I have decided not to continue taking the Citalopram, its just not worth it. Also, how long until this drug is out of my system?

Hi.

Yes, the paracetamol should be fine, but avoid other pain killers. The citalopram takes a little lesser than 2 days to be out of your system, it is actually 1 and a half day to be more precise, so you should be rid of the side effects soon.

Best wishes.
