When Will The C-section Incision Heal?

Hi I am a diabetic i just had a c section on jan 14th. my c section was ozzing so the doctors reopened part of my incision and drained it. now the are packing the 4 cm wound everyday for about a month now so it can heal from the inside out. is it normal for my packing to be green?. is there another way i can avoid infection?. how long will it take for me to truely be healed?

Hello and welcome,

It is not uncommon to have wound infections in c section incisions. However, green color discharge indicates most likely a pseudomonas infection.
In our setup, I generally order a wound swab tested for infection if a patient has any discharge. So please get it tested if possible. Also, I am not sure if you are being given any antibiotics to help cover the infection. A blood sugar test is also advisable as high blood sugars prevent healing.
So please discuss this with your doctor and get the tests done if possible.

In addition we advise eating a balanced diet as well as taking a lot of vitamin C and proteins as they promote healing of wound.

Please do not worry, as packing helps in healing of wound.
