When Would Be The Best Time To Take HPT?

Girlfriend and I had an unprotected encounter. No ejaculation inside and barely any insertion whatsoever, but concerned over pre-ejaculate. Girlfriend had been on oral contraceptive for months, but had missed a number of days and decided to start fresh for the next month (ergo, had been off BC for a week to ten days). Again, no internal ejaculation and barely penetration, and she took Plan B about 40 hours later. I know the likelihood of pregnancy is low, given the circumstances, and Plan B can really mess with menstrual cycles, but should I be concerned about pregnancy if she does not get her period like usual (again, I know Plan B wreaks havoc on a woman s cycle)? And when would be the best time to take a home pregnancy test?

thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com....

see first of all, it is unlikely for pre-ejaculate to cause pregnancy....plus taking plan B within 72 hours has a failure rate less than 3%...so you can be almost sure that it wont cause any pregnancy...
and yes, oc pills alters normal periods to some extent...so she might not get her periods in usual time but that should not be a cause of concern....
lastly, a pregnancy requires ovulation, fertilisation and implantation...generally the time when normally periods should have occurred is the initial time to do home pregnancy test...it decreases the chances of false negative results which can occur if the tests are done early...so it can be done anytime after that...

hope that was helpful....
contact me for any further queries....

regards
