Recently, i have had a migrane for 3 straight day and went to lawrence hospital. after being seen and given saline iv to replenish fluids, the dr. told me to see a neurologist. i need the name of a good neurologist in lower westchester. have any ideas
There are 2 main aspects to migraine treatment: (1) abortive treatment - this is medication that it used to treat the headache (2)prophylactic medication- this is used to reduce the frequency of headaches. To stop them from occurring.
If you have frequent headaches you may benefit from the use of prophylactic medication.
In terms of locating a neurologist, there are websites that can help you locate one in your area. Examples are healthgrades.com, zocdoc.com, american medical association doctor finder, webmd physician directory. These sites locate doctors in different specialities at different locations.
Alternatively you can ask you GP to refer you to a neurologist.
I hope this helps
