Which Doctor Should Be Consulted For Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome?
My daughter (29 years of age) and my husband (56 years of age) have very similar what appears to be digestive problems. In my daughters case she spent 2 months in hospitals, the first month having tests run and suffering with what they felt was cyclical vomiting syndrome. While she agreed with this and has tried to follow what the doctors have recommended, the second month the severe pain started in her back. They are telling her that this is all related. Keeping this in mind, it is now a year later and her diet consists of ensure since the pain is so severe when she eats. I still don t understand how a healthy young lady can go from what was a small infection of her digestive system to a person who cannot eat anything in 18 months and be told that her pain is functional and all in her head. My husband has some other issues (both kidneys being on the same side) so it was always felt his problems stemmed from his insides not being normal but now with the daughter being sick also maybe that was not really his problem either. We have done web searches, they both see different doctors (my husband has just given up). Is there any other type of doctor to try to see?

Which Doctor Should Be Consulted For Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. With the onset of back pain, she should consider a rheumatologist. These are specialists that deal with conditions that affect the muscles and joints. She should also get a second opinion from another gastrenterologist as well. I hope this helps
