Which Is The Best Way To Clear Blockage In Ears?

I think I have an ear infection. My ear was itchy and hurting alittle bit yesterday. I am recovering from a cold and this morning woke up to find my ear blocked by some brownish discharge. It is still blocked, what is the best way to clear the ear passage? Many thanks

Hi and thanks for the query.
Most common causes for ear blockage are impacted wax and ear infection.
Since you are recovering from a cold, i would say that chances of ear infection are higher.
The brownish discharge may just be wax. Discharge due to middle ear infection is mucoid and usually yellowish in colour.
You will need an ENT examination to know the exact cause of pain and discharge.
Till then keep your ears dry and do not probe your ears or try to clean them.
For pain you can take any over the counter analgesics.
Regards , Dr Kishori.
