Hello,
Welcome to HCM
Since your age is 63 years, and you are taking combination of Amlodipine 5 mg and Atenolol 50, your blood pressure is not under very much good control .
I usually start my patients who come with high blood pressure with ACE inhibitors like Ramipril -2.5/5/10 mg or AT-1 antagonists like Telmisartan-20/40 mg.
They are very good for kidneys also.
If you are already having diabetic nephropathy, you cant take this drug.
Otherwise you can surely take this for control of blood pressure after consulting your doctor.
Thank you.
