Can I take Mercilon packs of 21 continuously for 3 months? So this would mean taking 1 pack for 21 days and continuing to take packs 2 and 3 and half of 4 before having a period. How does this work? I had 7 packs left over when I moved from England to the USA and haven't found a doctor in the USA yet. What brand is the equivalent here in the USA? Mercilon = desogestrel B.P 150 micrograms :: ethinylestradiol Ph. Eur. 20 micrograms
Marvelon is an alternative drug and can be used. Marvelon comes in strips of 21 pills, each marked with a day of the week. Take your pill at the same time every day. Follow the direction of the arrows on the strip. Take one pill each day, until you have finished all 21 pills. Then have seven pill-free days. After you have taken all 21 pills in the strip, you have seven days when you take no pills. You will have withdrawal bleed during this time after which the pills are started again.
