Which Specialist Doctor Should Be Consulted For The Treatment Of Lupus?

My husband was recently diagnosed with lupus after visiting a dermatologist. We are waiting for them to call us with the name of a specialist to see. Does he have to see a specialist or can we just find an MD on our own? It has been almost a week and have not heard back from them yet.

You can consult a Rheumatologist (Who had completed D.M Rheumatology in India), Dermatologist (Who had completed M.D in Dermatology) or General Physician (Who had completed M.D in General Medicine)

You might by referred by any of them to a Nephrologist (Who had completed D.M in Nephrology) if you have any kidney problems.
