Which Specialist Should I Consult For Cough, Weakness And Shortness Of Breath?

I have systemic scleroderma, Parkinson s, PAH, ILD, GERD, FIBRO, CHRONIC MIGRAINES, SOJGRENS, CHF - 1 episode, and a few other things. Currently I am suffering from severe coughing, weakness, fluid pretension and shortness of breath. Am I having a heart problem (CHF)? Should I call my cardiologist or lung doctor? When I cough it is so hard sometimes that I can t stop it. It feels like it is getting worse. I guess I just need to know which doctor. Sorry to over-inform you. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Interstitial lung disease and congestive heart failure may cause exertional dyspnea, cough and weakness.

It may be due to infection or cor pulmonale etc.

You can use bronchodilators, check blood pressure, check lungs for fluid over load.

If blood pressure is high, then you can use diuretics, chest X-ray to see if pneumonia or effusion or edema of lungs present.

Check your pulse and saturation.

Please consult your cardiologist immediately. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
