Which Test Will Detect Osteoporosis?

Sir, I had suffered slip disk and has been operated about 10 years ago. Later after about 5 years, I met an accident and suffered a femur neck hairline fracture and a plate has been fixed. Now for the last five years, I have trouble walking more than 100 meters and standing for more than 15 minutes. I am a smoker. I fear I have osteoporosis. What kind of tests are necessary to determine risk osteoporosis and what will be the approximate charges. I am 48 years old

Welcome to health care magic.

1.Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry is a means of measuring bone mineral density. Two X-ray beams with different energy levels are aimed at the patient's bones. Other scan - Nuclear scan - but more of radiation.
2.Even x-ray pelvis can also give enough information of osteoporosis.
3.Generally osteoporosis is common findings in a women of post menopause status.
4.In this case the treatment include an supplement of calcium tablets that would help.
5.And need to treat any underlying medical condition - as possible for the above symptoms. Good luck.

Hope i have answered your query.
