Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, I m a 25 year-old female with persistent lower abdominal pain. It s usually on the left although some times its on the right. Its crampy pain that interferes with work. A week ago, the clinic prescribed T3s, which have helped the pain to a manageable level but not eliminated it yet. It may be related to possible PMDD. Sporatically, my bowel movements also involve little fluid filled mucus looking sacs with blood. I have had a few of these in the last week, which may or may not be related to the lower abdominal pain. Do you have any ideas?
Hi Thanks for your query. The pain on both sides of the abdomen with the history of blood and mucus in the stool is suggestive of inflammation of the large bowel called colitis. This needs a course of proper antibiotics under the guidance and prescription of the Doctor , preferable Gastroenterologist. If the 5 day course solves your problem, great ! If not you may need further investigations like of blood, urine and stool and may be colonoscopy.
