Why Am I Having Period Again With Blood Clots?

I have had the implanon in for 17 months now and would have a period every few months and it would last about a week My last one lasted almost three weeks. And I have started again I have heavy bleeding with quarter size blood clots. I have never had this problem before so I'm not sure if something is wrong. Do you have any suggestions?
