Why Am I Having Twinges On The Right Side Of My Pelvis?
Hi, I am on the pill and have been for a long time. Over the past couple of weeks I have been experiencing twinges in the right side of my pelvis. I think the pain is coming from where my right ovary is, it comes and goes and can be quite uncomfortable. What is wrong with me?
While using contraceptive pills some amount of pain abdomen can be seen frequently as a side effect. But usually contraceptive pills do not lead to pain in ovaries. Actually contraceptive pills are used to decrease the size of simple ovarian cysts and also risk of ovarian tumors.
Another possible cause of ovarian pain is pelvic inflammatory disease. Pills though can give protection from conception, but usually will not protect from pelvic infection. Anyhow, as you are having quite severe pain, better to get evaluated. By clinical examination and ultrasound the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
