Why Am I Having Two Menses In A Row?

It seem like I 'm having two periods in a row. it just stopped briefly for a few days in between but had tender breasts all along. I'm 51yrs old and have always been regular. Not on the pill. What could it be??? Should i worry about cervical or ovarian cancer? it was very heavy bleeding in the beginning for 4 days stopped for 2 or 3 the started again with light brown the bright red for the past two day..still bleeding now...
