Hi,
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a recognized cause of failure of ovulation and thus infertility. However treatment in the form of Metformin Or Clomiphene is present, Clomiphene being superior in inducing ovulation. It is usually given in starting dose of 50 mg on day 3, 4, or 5 of the menstrual cycle for 5 days. The maximum chance of ovulation is around midcycle. Therefore Intercourse should be encouraged daily 2 days prior to ovulation and on the day of ovulation. Intercourse prior to that doesn't effect the function of clomephene, Ovulation day can be deduced by daily temperature record or OPK( ovulation predictor Kit). If ovulation doesn't occur the dose of clomephene is increased by 50 mg during each cycle, but regular ultrasound should be done for the ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome.
