Why Am I Spotting Instead Of Having Normal Menses?

i have missed my periods its now almost 40 days. i have regular period cycle of 28 days my UPT shows negative... on 27 day of the present cycle i got soem spotting...but 2 days back that's on 38 day i got some spotting again... my UPT today mornign also showed negative...is there any thing to be concerned about
