Hi,
It is common for a person of your age to get less sleep. But, in your case, you have also mentioned that some thoughts creep in all the time while trying to sleep. Are you worrying about something? Have you consulted a psychiatrist to be evaluated for possible anxiety disorder which is very common at this age?
Taking only alprazolam does not help. In fact, it is wrongly used as a sleeping pill. Alprazolam is an anti anxiety medication which also induces sleep due to its calming effect. Nowadays, many better sedatives are available and they do not cause dependence as in case of alprazolam.
Seeing serials just before sleep hours is never advisable as it can adversely effect your sleep. Do not use your bed for other activities like reading books or watching tv. Avoid tea/coffee or exercise before sleep. A warm shower will help.
DR.Keerthish shetty,
I am thankfull for your answer to my sleep disorder problem.I shall definitely try hot water bath before going to bed. For your information, I want to elaboratae a few things here .I am not a worrying type and I forget things iimmmeditely after. As far as seeing serials for relaxation before going to bed is not adviseable and on suggestion of one sleep disorder specialist I started doing relaxation exercises for 10-15 minutes after seeing the serials and before going to bed and Itried this for 10-15 days but of no use and I stoped it.
With above in view,Ithought of getting the Sleep study done at AIIMS,for which I need your valuable advice, if the same will help me in getting some sleep as it will help the doctor in finding the exact cause of my sleep disorder.
With regards,
C.L.Kukreja
Going through your symptoms ,it appears that you suffer from insomnia.I would like to have a look at the polysomnography report which was done at AIIMS.You benefit by some drug therapy under presciption by a sleep specalist as well cognitive behavioural therapy( given by qulaified pyschologist).
this will help entrain your sleep rhythm better.
regards
