Why Am I Getting Tingling And Numbness In My Left Hand?
Why is this happening – what could it be.
I’m having sporadic tingling and numbness in my left hand and sometime up to my elbow. During the whole day, this has been happening quite often and just today (right now), I’m feeling lightheaded. I just took some non-aspirin. I have called my doctor, but I’m waiting on a reply.
My age is 54, female, African American, weight-approx. 175 lb., and I have been on high-blood pressure pills for about 1 1/2 years now – Diovan HCT 80 mg/12.5 mg
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, - The tingling/numbness single sided goes in favor of nerve irritation. -one sided cervical rib. It is usually since birth.but as the shoulder droop with advancing age, they start compressing nerve supplying hand. &the symptoms arise at perticualr position of hand, that creates compression. - another possibility is cervical spondelitis, _ it may follow trauma causing swelling of nerve sheaths - light headed ness can be following pill /may be you have taken it on an empty stomach / psychological stress caused by the symptoms in left hand/Cervical spondelitis. You are going to have your doctor's advice soon, please follow his advice/get your self investigated . change of posture & Physical therapy helps in many cases. Vitamin B1,B12>&olic acid supplementations are useful. Thanks.
