Why Am I Having Pain And Swelling In Left Testicle?

Hi there,
I am a 27 year old healthy sexually active male. In recent weeks, I have been experiencing pain and swelling in my left testicle. I have received an antibiotic and the swelling has reduced but there is still a throbbing pain there. I have to go for a scan and am wondering should I be very worried
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

An ultrasound scan is important to assess the testis and scrotum. It will tell if there is any persisting infection or fluid collection within. You must complete the course of antibiotics and wear loose cotton innerwear for a while. It is important to know if the pain is more while lying down or not. If pain decreases when lying down then it is most likely an infection. Please do not worry.
