Why Blood Is Coming With The Saliva?

I have blood in my saliva in the mornings, saw my Dr. and he recommended a dentist. The dentist did not see any thing that would cause bleeding in my mouth. Have an appointment with an ENT next week. No coughing, no soreness anywhere, no trouble breathing. Any ideas what I might be looking at?

hello thanks for consulting at hcm..if recent bad cold - damaged your throat causing it to bleed or dry nose or a sinus infection - dryness will run to your throat during the night and appear with mucus in the mornings(post nasal drip). problem with gums or it could be linked to a nosebleed.
The medical term for spitting up blood is Haemoptysis. Other possibilities are a blood clot in the lung, or laryngitis.it could also be Goodpasture's syndrome, which causes haemorrhaging of the lungs due to an attack by the immune system. Cancer, Pneumonia and Tuberculosis can also cause you to spit up blood. The possibilities are so wide ranging that if this persists then a visit to an ear, nose and throat specialist is mandatory.
Tests--to establish the causes include a CT scan, a chest X-ray, a complete blood count and a lung scan.hp it helps,,tc
