Why Cant A Leukaemia Patient Who Underwent Chemotherapy Is Advised Not To Eat Fruits ?

Sir, Why is it so that A boy of 15 yrs recently diagnosed Leukaemic and undergone chemotherapy and strictly advilsed not to take fruits until the WB c count comes 4000 per mm3. Why they restricted fruit diet?

Hello, welcome to HCM. Your child has been asked not to take fruits as his body immune level is low presently and fruits can be containing bacteria and harmfull agents which body can take care of in normal circumstances but will find it difficult to handle presently. So you should avoid them till the time your child's immune level recovers. Wish him good health.
