Hello,

Fetal hand held doppler usage comes with certain setbacks. If your uterus is retroverted or if you have an obese abdominal wall getting a reading will be difficult. But home monitoring of fetal heart is not really necessary unless you have some definite indication for the same. Especially at this gestational age, it can produce thermal and non thermal effects on fetal tissue which is undesired and totally preventable. Just embrace your pregnancy and don't stress too much.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
