Why Dencongestant Can Not Be Taken With Thyroxine?

I just went to buy decongestant from the pharmacy for my daughter who is on thyroxine and was told she cant take it - he offered her a nasal spray why cant she take decongestants and what should I be looking for in ingredients of meds that she cant have - she s off to uni in `sept and she ll need to know. thanks
