Why Diabetic Medicines Causes Dizziness And Uncomfortable?
This query is about my mother. She is a diabetic patient from last around 8 years. Her age is around 53years I have seen her sugar level is generally around 350 on top of it she is always normal. But when she takes the medicines prescribed by the doctors then she feels dizziness and becomes uncomfortable immediately. We have changed around 10 doctors, but it never helped us. Not sure what is happening...I hope you can help
Dear Sir/Madam, This is a very common problem which most uncontrolled diabetics face. The logic is that when sugars are kept at very high values over prolonged period the hypoglycemia sensing mechanism in the body is altered and your mother may experience hypoglycemic symptoms at higher sugar levels. The treatment for this condition is to get a glucometer, check blood sugars when she is feeling uneasy. if the sugar values are normal ask her to take only a glass of plain water and relax. She can eat something only when her values are in hypoglycemic range. the whole idea is to train her brain to sense hypoglycemia at correct levels. you may be amused to know that i face such patients more often. There wont be any use in changing doctors. Allowing her to be in high sugars itself is like giving invitation to diabetes related complications. Please try what i have suggested above and let me know. This method has till now helped me successfully manage patients like your mom. She needs a doctor who can sit and calmly explain things to her. All the best! Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
