Why Did I Have An Abnormal Period?

i have diabetes. and ive been having unprotected sex. i just had some what of a period but it wasnt a normal one. it was barely there and for only 2 days. could i be pregnant.. i just took a home pregnancy test that came out negative. could this barely there period be there because of my diabetes?
