Why Do I Experience Throat Pain After Drinking Water?

I started having pain this morning after drinking water. When I drink any fluids it goes down the throat fine and soon as it gets past my throat and around the sternum area its really tough to go through. Feels like it has to be pushed to get through and gives me a serious pain. I have never experienced this before so I don t know what it is. I do not smoke and rarely drink. Any ideas?

As you have explained in your narrative it seems very clear that you are suffering from severe throat infection nothing else. Treatment for the same is one antibiotic like tab Azithromycin 500 mg once daily or tab Ampoxin 500 mg three times daily after meals along with some decongestant like tab wikoryl or tab diominic-dca three times daily after meals with tab rantac or tab famotid two times daily before taking meals. For soothing of your throat you can also take syrup asthakind or syrup grilinctus-BM 2 tsf three times daily. Apart from these medicines, you have to do salt water gargles or steam inhalation as it is also very beneficial for in case of severe sore throat.
