Why Do I Get Headaches While Lifting Weights And During An Orgasm?

I get an occasional instant (and painful) headache when I m at the gym while lifting weights, and also when I have an orgasm. I bring both up because the headache is identical in both of these occasions. It feels very similar to a brain freeze after eating something icy. Why does this happen? A little concerned that I may have some type of neurological issue(s)? This has been happening for months now.

Hello,

Headache related to exercise like weight lifting or sexual intercourse is a common phenomenon. The cause is not well understood but it is thought to be due to dilation of veins in the brain during exercise. Distressful as it may be, in the overwhelming number of cases they are benign, are not related to any neurological condition.

At times when they manifest for the first time brain imaging is done to rule out a hemorrhage, but as I said usually turns out normal and since it has been going on for months in your case I am very confident that it is not related to hemorrhage or any other neurological condition.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
