Why Do I Get Severe Headaches And Pressure Behind The Head?

Lately I been having headaches mostly on my left but as soon as I get a headache on my right it just hurts more or just feels really weird. Today I felt pressure in the back of my head on the right side. When I was going outside I just felt weird like I was going to pass out. I was walking out to Target and it’s about a 20 min walk, in 75 degree weather in hot clothing I could feel that my headache went away but then I just felt like I was going to faint, I started getting anxiety and I could just feel heat. Why does that happen? This is the second time I feel this way.

Hello,

Judging from your description it is most likely that yours is a benign primary headache such as a tension headache (primary meaning not related to a brain lesion or other identifiable causes).

It is unlikely to be due to a brain lesion since it is not persistent on one side. It is commonly triggered or exacerbated by anxiety which is also the most likely cause for your close to fainting episode.

Over the counter medication such as Ibuprofen are effective for a headache, if headaches are a frequent preventive medication with amitriptyline may be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
