Why Do I Get Thick Brown Mucus In My Mouth During Periods?

About every month for a week or so period of time, I wake up with thick brown mucus in my mouth and continue to cough it up. Very hard to get it up and out very raspy cough. Hard to get breath going until about an hour or so. I do dip snuff daily but don't smoke. I did smoke for years but haven't in years. This is getting more consistent. I've tried many things, elevating my head, saline shots thru my nasal cavities. What could this be?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

It is likely that you are having a swelling or a mass in your wind pipe which is causing the symptoms , there is another possibility of you developing a chronic lung disease and i would like you to meet your ent doctor /chest physician for confirming this and further treatment. Meanwhile i can suggest you take steam inhalation 3-4 times a day.
Thanks
