Why Do I Have Dark Patches And Pigmentation On Skin ?
Hi, My son, aged 18, has dark pigmentation on his nose for more than a year now. He is overweight , weighs 98 kgs and is 5.10 ft tall. He has darkened skin in underarm area as well as back of his neck. He was tested by a Dermatologist for Thyroid and results are: T3=1.41 ng/dl, T4=7.75 ug/dl,TSH=6.16 ug/mL, FT4=1.22 ng/100 mL. He was prescribed Terbicip Cream, BanTan Cream, Tretin Cream 0.05%, and Tab AF-150. a month, Treatment was followed for but discontinued as there was no visible improvement. Now the dark pigmentation on the nose is becoming more prominent. I want to discuss this with a specialist now. Thanks!

Your reports suggest that you are having mild hypothyroidism.
These dark pigmentations could also be due to insulin resistance resulting in acanthiosis nigricans apart from erythrasma.
You must be investigated for fasting and post prandial levels of sugar as well as insulin.
Consult an endocrinologist for the evaluation and treatment.
