Why Do I Have Extremely High BP While On Irbesartan?

My doctor has recently put me in Ibresartan 100mgs once a day. I have been taking my blood pressure in the a.m. -today it was 111 over 97. Tonight it was 200 over 96. He won t be available to talk to until Monday. I m very worried. What should I do?

I understand your query and concern.
Blood pressure should be monitored regularly.Inadequate drug dosage is the cause for increased blood pressure in your case.You should also take 50 mg Irbesartan night time dose in addition to your present morning dose or should have an add on drug along with your present medication.Twice dosing of your medication will control your blood pressure.Also get ECG,2D echo,lipid profile as a part of routine checkup of your heart.Avoid smoking,alcohol,fatty foods.Restrict your salt intake to Post your further queries if any,
