Why Do I Have Progressive Unilateral Moderate To Severe Hearing Loss Accompanied With Vertigo?

I have progressive unilateral moderate to severe hearing loss, left ear, both conductive and sensorineural. The audiogram in right ear is normal. I also have tinnitis in my left ear. I have had one short episode of vertigo 3 months ago. There is a question of possible otosclerosis in my left ear. Is it common to have just one ear with these problems?could a hearing help?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

The both conductive and sensorineuronal hearing loss can occur when both middle and inner ear affected....
So your chochlea or labyrinth might be affected....

Your vertigo can be because of affection of vestibular system.
In otoslerosis new spongy bone formation can occur which can lead conductive hearing loss predominetly.

Your detail work up needed with investigation to reveal cause and subsequent repair ....
If that is not possible hearing aid might be useful....

Take care .

Consult ENT surgeon for that.
