Why Do I Have Severe Itching Under My Skin In The Upper Arms And Pins And Needles In The Extremities?

I have severe itching under my skin in upper arms accompanied with occasional needle prick sensation in different parts of my extremities. I have tried using low doses of Neurotin periodically but it never really goes totally away, my Doctor thinks it is referred nerve pain but it now is concerning me due to the needle poke sensations I have currently been experiencing which is new, the severe itching has been ongoing for a couple of years on and off, would like advice on this please.
