Why Do I Have Tooth Ache After Root Canal Treatment ?
i had root canal treatment 1 year back.it was fine.the seal got loose and now its bit sensitive and a bit paining for teh past 3 days...not much,rarely, i want to know whether i have to do RCT again?cant be anything done by medicine?and just sealing it again?can tooth x-ray be done frm outside and not putting plates inside?please ans.

for the first question if the seal of the endodontically treated tooth got loose, the root canals of the tooth may be re infected again due to loss of the seal and root canal retreatment should be done if it is possibel .
medication will not solve the problem .
for x -ray , periapical film is a simple and exellent film to determine the presence of periapical lesion or not .

When a teeth is root canal treated it should be covered by a crown which will prevent the seapage of any fluids or other materials into the tooth. An Xray should be taken to determine if the tooth has been infected. If so it has to be retreated. A crown over the tooth is absolutely necessary.

you will need a re-root canal treatment. contact your dentist. seepage is going to lead to infection thus re root canal is advisable.

thanks a lot for all of ur advice....i did re root canal...and am fine now...
your pain is due to senstivity because of microleakage go for filling of lost filiing then capping by cereamic cap and then also you feel pain go for reroot canal treatment.

After a successful root canal treatment the tooth nerve tissue is removed completely and the tooth is disinfected and devitalised so there is no question of pain post treatment.
You may experience pain and sensitivity if any of the root canal is missed accidently and left unexplored . this may lead to infection which may spread to periapical area of the tooth.
i would suggest you to get an X ray done which will show if the root canal was done properly or there is any remnant pulp tissue present in the tooth , periapical infection or any abscess or any microleakage .
X ray is done by putting a small sreen inside the mouth dont worry about it .
After the treatment done , get the tooth capped with a prosthetic crown coverage which prevents the filling to come out and prevents microlekage.

Pain after Root canal treatment does not occur , only if there is re-infection or incompletely done procedure , accidentally missed canal , food lodgement between the cap and the tooth if the tooth is capped.
I would suggest you to go for complete clinical evaluation .
Take an x-ray of the tooth which will show the periapical condition of the tooth , depending on which the treatment will be decided. Probably the treatment will be re-RCT of the tooth followed by a prosthetic crown placement.
Get complete mouth scaling and polishing done .
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

usually in reRCT cases chances are not very bright.
as tooth is again infected & you can preserve this. some untreated canal so you can go for treatment but always one thing should be kept in mind that chances are always relatively less.
Re exploring the canals and removing the infection will only subside your symptoms.

A root canal treated tooth is further treated by prosthetic crown.i think there was no crown placed in your case.

If the pain after root canal is intense, this could be a sign of complications and possibly of a root canal failure.
In case of a failed root canal pain, a re-treatment and possibly an apicoectomy are needed in order to save the tooth. If neither proves to be successful a tooth extraction is necessary. A stronger prescription pain medicine may be needed for post root canal pain relief until the tooth is re-treated or extracted.

well as per your past dental history, loosening of seal leads to re - infection of treated root cnals because of saliva penetration. now following points to be considered:
1. if your restoration is lost for more tahn 1 month or so you should opt for re- rct.
2. x- ray can show the status of previously done rct whether it was properly done or not,
3. if seal loosening is less than 2 weeks and x ray is showing no pathology beneath the antibiotica nad re- filling may also help.
yes x ray can be done without putting paltes inside. you have to go for OPG the; but taht too can only be used for diagnostic purposes only as if re- rct is required the u have to get an iopa ( x ray with film in mouth ) done for the procedure purposes.
