Why Do I Hear A Crackling In My Ear After Yawning Or Burping?

When I burp and sometimes when I yawn I hear a crackling in my left ear. There is no pain just the sound. I thought it was water in my ear from the shower but i ve tried using a q-tip twice to get it out and it still makes the noise. My ears are clean, no wax build up. What is the noise?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thnaks for the query,
The eustachian tube connects the back of the nose to the inside of the ear.
Whenever you yawn the muscles surrounding the tube contract thereby opening the tube. When the tube opens air rushes into the ear producing the cracking sound.
When you burp there are sudden changes in pressure which are transmitted to the eat via the tube leading to a cracking sound.
Absolutely nothing to wory.
Do not ever clean the insides of the ear with a qtip or any other thing, it can damage your ear, besides insides of the ear do not require any cleaning.
Regards,
Dr Kishori.
