Why Do Doctors Hold Your Thyroid Cartilage Between Their Forefinger And Thumb ?
Why do doctors hold your thyroid cartilage between their forefinger and thumb and ask you to swallow? The reason I m asking this in heart diseases is because I seen a cardiologist do it.
She is not holding the thyroid cartilage---she is palpating the thyroid itself to check for enlargement or nodules. Thyroid dyscrasias (low or high thyroid conditions) can contribute to cardiac conditions, including cardiomyopathies and arrhythmias.
