Why Does One Bleed After Sex?

I am 16 years old & I am not a virgin;

I am not on my period, I just finished 4 days ago.

Me and my boyfriend had intercourse yesterday.

It was good and it did not hurt.

But after, he noticed blood on his shirt;

and it was coming from me. I am no longer bleeding,

and there is no discomfort.

What could this mean?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
Sometimes, soon after a period, there may be some spotting after intercourse due to pressure effect. Apart from this, local causes like cervical erosions, infections of the cervix and vagina also can be seen. Polyps of the cervix and the uterus can also cause such spotting. Considering your age, post-menstrual residual potting and infections appear to be the more likely possibilities. Please see an expert for proper evaluation and further management. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
