Why Does One Have A Chemical-like Taste In The Mouth?

My 29 year old daughter recently had a bout with a cold/flu and an accompanying fever of 100.5. She's much better now, but two days ago she began noticing a chemical-like taste in her mouth. She said she's also noticed acid reflux. She took NyQuil when she was ill. ~ She is on no other medication. Can you please shed some light on this for us?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain a chemical like taste in mouth with a history of taking medication and also having acid reflux, the cause for altered taste can be both due to side effect of medicine and the acid it if refluxes to throat and mouth..
If still she has some post nasal drip it can also cause foul taste in mouth therefore her problem seems multifactorial but all the conditions will be resolved soon and nothing seems serious..
She can take a short course of antibiotics like Augmentin, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, do steam inhalations for complete relief..
Take antacids and short frequent meals and avoid acidic and spicy food for relief..
Once the medication will be stopped and she will get relieved of post nasal drip and acid reflux the foul taste will be improved..
As of now drink plenty of water and chew sugar free chewing gums for masking bad taste..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
