Why Does One Undergo Severe Depression Just Before The Menstrual Cycle?

I am a 24 year old African American woman who has been having this problem for years. About 2 to 2 1/2 weeks before my menstrual cycle I have these episodes that are very very violent. I am either so angry that I dream, and sometimes even try, to kill people who have made me angry recently or in my past. Or I am either so depressed where I try to commit suicide. I cry constantly. It is effecting my everyday life, and I don't know what to do.
