Why Does The Vagina Hurt After Using Tampons?

my vagina hurts afted putting in a crooked tampon and leaving it in for 2 hours. its kinda stings. but. goes away for a while and will randomly come back.. shood i be worroed? i took it out an hour ago and i just started wearing tampons and im not sexuallly active. thanks
