Why Does Urine Of A Person With Overactive Bladder Leave A Strong Odor?

I am dealing with overactive bladder and have been reading about it on Wed MD site. I will try a few of their suggestions, ie, Kegel exercises, keeping a chart, etc. I may even try MACA. But another concern I have is very strong urine odor, not the kind of odor from de-hydration. It is like a chemical oror that is very strong. Could it be from meds being taken? or any other ideas about this? Thank you.

Hello,my name is dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.Welcome to HCM!I understand your concern.There are many causes for urine odor.Some foods and medications, such as asparagus or certain vitamins, can cause a noticeable urine odor, even in low concentrations.
Sometimes, unusual urine odor indicates a medical condition or disease, such as:
-Bladder infection
-Cystitis (bladder inflammation)
-Diabetic ketoacidosis,if you have diabetes,high levels of blood acids called ketones
-Gastrointestinal-bladder fistula (abnormal connection between the intestines and body.
-Type 2 diabetes
-Salpingitis (inflammation of the fallopian tubes)
So you have to do some examination such as:
-urine test
-Abdominal ultrasonography that is a form of medical ultrasonography to visualise abdominal anatomical structures.
